Word Market: South Cumbria Writers and Readers Festival

DESCRIPTION OF WORD MARKET: SOUTH CUMBRIA WRITERS AND READERS FESTIVAL

Welcome to the fourth annual Word Market Festival. We are delighted to present an exciting programme of events, projects and training opportunities. We think we have something for everyone, whether you are a reader, a writer of prose, plays or poetry, or if you simply enjoy supporting and celebrating the wealth of talent in South Cumbria. The Word Market Festival is an ideal place to find inspiration and first rate entertainment. This year has seen some significant developments in the organisation. Funding from Rural Regeneration Cumbria and Cumbria Key Fund has enabled us to invest in quality design with the help of local creative professionals, Photographer Ania Grom Yoncali and Graphic Designer Stuart Perry, and a programme of professional training opportunities to complement our festival and regular activities. Look out for the Training Plan brochure in local libraries and venues or check out our new-look website, which is constantly updated and managed by Kate Harrison Whiteside.

Word Market’s programme is something for all to be proud of. It has been developed through the hard work and dedication of people who voluntarily commit themselves to promoting opportunities for the enjoyment and development of reading and writing in all its aspects. We want to encourage as many people as possible to pick up a pen, read a good book, or sit back and listen to some of the very best new writing in the world today. Help us to turn our aims into realities by making a donation, pledging sponsorship, advertising on our site, commissioning us to undertake work on your behalf, or becoming a member. If you would like to join us, please get in touch.
