DESCRIPTION OF CRUACHAN

Cruachan is a modern, white-painted house in a quiet cul-de-sac within a minute's walk of the town centre. The Old Man of Coniston and surrounding fells provide "stunning views" from its windows. The accommodation is comfortable and well appointed: the recently redecorated bedrooms are funished in pine. Home-made muesli and marmalade crop up among the items at breakfast (8.30am), which is served in the sitting/dining room. The Old Man of Coniston is the obvious peak for walkers, and Coniston Water is a 15-minute level stroll away; on the opposite bank is Brankwood, where Ruskin lived and died. Drying facilities for clothes and footwaer are provided for walkers, and there is secure storage space for cycles. Coniston has plenty of pubs and restaurants for evening meals.
