DESCRIPTION OF BLACKSMITH'S ARMS

Michael and Sophie Lane took over as landlord and landlady of the Blacksmiths Arms early in 2004. Sophie runs front of house, while Michael divides his time between the kitchen and the bar. They both believe that the pub itself, its location and its place in the local community make the Blacksmiths Arms a wonderful place to visit. Michael and Sophie wish you a warm welcome to this unique Lakeland pub.

The cosy bar is reserved for drinking only! The most popular bitter is Cumberland Ale from Jennings Brewery in Cockermouth, and is always available. Along with this you may find microbrewery ales from Barngates Brewery, near Ambleside, Hawkshead Bitter, Dent Aviator and others. In summer farmhouse cider is available.

We pride ourselves on using local suppliers who guarantee quality produce. You will often find Beef and Herdwick Lamb on the menu, which has been reared here in the Lickle Valley. Our award winning lamb dishes sit alongside other house favourites such as traditional steak pie in suet pastry, fresh fish, sizzling steak platters, tasty vegetarian dishes and a children's menu to tempt the under twelves.
