DESCRIPTION OF POEM & A PINT PRESENT MATTHEW SWEENEY

Matthew Sweeney was born in Donegal, Ireland in 1952. He moved to London in 1973 and studied at the Polytechnice of North London.

His latest poetry collections are Sanctuary (2004) and Black Moon (2007), the latter short-listed for the 2007 TS Eliot Prize. The only things Matthew Sweeney ever says about his work is that he consideres it to be imagistic narrative, in the main, that it often employs black humour, and that it can stray over the border of realism into the territory he calls alternative realism.

Music will be provided by an old friend of the event, the ever-versatile Pete Morton. There's nowhere in the country where you could hear better poetry and music than this. Come and enjoy it with us.
